Angela came to the Bar in 2000 after a rewarding career as a Partner within a Solicitor’s firm in Cumbria. As a Solicitor she was a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel and Mental Health Panel.

The majority of Angela’s work is in the High Court and the County Court. Angela is regularly instructed by the majority of Local Authorities in the North East to conduct care proceedings on their behalf. She is also instructed on behalf of parents, other family members and Children’s Guardians in care proceedings.

Angela has been instructed by the Official Solicitor to represent individuals who have been found not have capacity. Angela has a particular interest in cases which involve complex medical issues and cases which have a mental health dimension. Angela has been instructed in cases which involve Factitious / Induced Illness.

Angela is regularly instructed on behalf of parents, other family members and children in private law proceedings which involve residence and contact disputes. Angela has been instructed in cases involving inter-country adoption and child abduction.

She is regularly instructed in applications pursuant to the Forced Marriage Act as she has a particular interest in this area of work.

Angela has a real interest in mental health issues and is developing a practice in cases involving vulnerable adults which are conducted in the Court of Protection.

Angela also has experience of appearing against litigants in person in both private and public law proceedings. Her experience in these cases ensures that she is able to approach matters firmly but fairly without inflaming an already tense situation.

Prior to transferring to the Bar in 2000 Angela was a Partner in a Solicitor’s firm in Cumbria where she specialised in family and mental health law.

Angela lives in Cumbria with her husband, a Great Dane and two cats. She has a son who is reading Law and Criminal Justice at University. Angela’s interests include travelling, walking, reading and spending time with family and friends. She endeavours to spend as much time as her practice allows in Italy.
