Jamie has represented both Claimants and Respondents, dealing with high value unfair dismissal claims, encompassing conduct, redundancy and TUPE related dismissals. He has been involved in many high value discrimination cases, and has achieved significant success in representing Claimants in pregnancy related discrimination claims.

Jamie has a national practice in equal pay litigation, and is instructed in multi-week hearings involving multiple Claimants, and regularly appears against leading counsel.

He is also able to undertake advisory work in relation to organisations' HR structures, policies and procedures reducing the risk of successful litigation.

Commercial & Business

Jamie has been involved in a wide range of high value disputes involving complex construction claims heard in the High Court, transactions at an undervalue by a companys’ directors of over £300,000. Partnership disputes and commercial landlord and tenant in claims of over £500,000. Jamie also has a substantial practice in personal bankruptcy and company insolvency. Jamie also undertakes non-contentious matters including contract reviews and drafting, covering areas such as insurance and IT/web related agreements.

Personal Injury

Jamie accepts both Claimant and Defendant work, and regularly appears in the County and High Court in relation to high value cases, in particular road traffic accidents and credit hire. Subject to review, he accepts instructions in personal injury on a conditional fee basis. Jamie provides written liability and quantum opinions as well as pleadings and can return papers on an urgent basis.

Henderson v South Tyneside Connect (EAT) [2010] IRLR 466
A claim of unfair dismissal following third party pressure; consideration of the ‘injustice’ that must be considered by the Tribunal and the effect of unreasonable third party pressure.

Coker v London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham [2010] (unreported)
Three week hearing listed to consider the Respondent’s genuine material factor defence in relation to equal pay claims. Respondent represented by leading Counsel.

Hutton v Quarriers [2011](Unreported)
Represented the Claimant in a 7 day unfair dismissal claim involving a body responsible for the provision of care to vulnerable children. Statutory maximum award achieved.

Community Regeneration Trust North East v Singh [2011] (Unreported)
Significant value construction case heard in the High Court at Newcastle upon Tyne in which Counsel successfully represented the Claimant Trust.

Hovell v Ashford and St. Peters Hospital NHS Trust (ET)
Equal Value Stage 1 hearing considering the relevance of a JES as ‘evidence’ of value prior to its implementation.
