Mike has a busy clinical negligence, personal injury, chancery and commercial litigation practice.
Qualified as a dental surgeon and practising dentistry for 15 years before coming to the bar in 2004, he has a unique understanding of clinical negligence claims acting for both Claimants and Defendants. Whilst operating from Chambers in Newcastle and Teesside, Mike accepts instructions from across the UK. He is prepared to review certain cases on a pre-CFA basis.
His clinical negligence and personal injury practice has recently included:
- SD v Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (2011) LTLPI 02/08/11;
- Advising a professional defence society/indemnifier upon a high value orthopaedic and anaesthetic negligence claim;
- Advice in cases of severe drug reaction;
- Advice in catastrophic injury overlying schizophrenia and alcohol dependency;
- Advising in successful claim against dentists involving bone loss as a result of poor oral health caused by alleged failure to advise against smoking and absence of regular periodontal examinations;
- Advising upon claims against clinicians now out of the jurisdiction;
