Family law is one of the most challenging and dynamic areas of law.
The Trinity Family Law group, based in Chambers in Newcastle and Teesside, is one of the largest in the North of England. Trinity's family barristers offer a broad range of expertise and experience and are supported by a dedicated clerking team. All aspects of family law are covered, at all levels of court.
A high quality and user-friendly service is provided by Trinity's family barristers. Lay clients are represented with vigour, realism and compassion. Professional clients are valued, and the group recognises the importance of a prompt response, continuity of counsel and good communication with solicitors at all times. Whilst members of the group regularly attend hearings in Newcastle, Teesside, Sunderland, Durham, North Yorkshire and Cumbria, they frequently travel nationwide to hearings.
Many family barristers in the group are consistently mentioned in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners directories. In the 2011 edition of Legal 500 the family group are described as "undoubtedly strong". Three members sit as Deputy District Judges, two as Recorders and Mrs Sally Bradley Q.C. sits as a Deputy High Court Judge. An increasing number of the family barristers are instructed to chair and prepare overview reports for Serious Case Reviews.
The group offers a long-established and CPD-accredited programme of seminars on all aspects of family law for solicitors with topics ranging from Ancillary Relief to Care proceedings and Adoption. In recent times the group have received an increasing number of requests from Local Authorities for focussed training in areas such as forced marriage and court skills for social workers.
Members of the group value their own continuing professional development. They meet regularly for in-house talks and discussion. There are frequent cross-overs with other disciplines within Chambers, such as Court of Protection, Crime, Immigration, Insolvency and Administrative law.
