Ian has prosecuted and defended in a wide range of cases, including sexual and violent offending, drug supply and importation, non-fatal serious driving offences, and firearms cases. Most recently, his specialism has been towards the prosecution of rape and serious sexual offending and “County Lines” drug supply, including issues of modern slavery such as the use of teenage workers.

Ian was admitted as a Solicitor in October 1998, with a wide-ranging litigation practice. He joined the Crown Prosecution Service in the West Midlands in February 2003 as a Senior Crown Prosecutor.
He obtained Higher Rights (Criminal) in October 2008 and became a Solicitor Advocate/Crown Advocate. In July 2011, he left the Crown Prosecution Service to return to private practice.
