As a dual-qualified Chartered Accountant and Barrister, Thomas has a busy financial remedies practice that involves disputes over the matrimonial home, pensions, third-party property and debt. Thomas takes a particular interest in disputes involving company valuations.
Moreover, Thomas has experience in dealing with jurisdictional disputes both within the United Kingdom, specifically Scotland, and the European Union.
Thomas has a burgeoning ToLATA practice where he is often involved in cohabitee disputes at the point of a relationship breakdown. Thomas is regularly involved in such matters in the pre-proceedings phase, where he is able to offer advice on the merits of such an application.
Thomas has a broad range of experience in Public Law cases and regularly represents local authorities, mothers, fathers and children. Such cases often involve significant child protection issues including non-accidental injuries, chronic neglect, substance abuse and domestic abuse. Thomas is regularly involved in cases featuring applications for care orders, adoption and special guardianship.
Thomas frequently represents parents, children and extended family members in a broad range of private law disputes appearing in both the High Court and Family Court on multi-day trials. Issues in such cases can include removal from the jurisdiction to both Hague and non-Hague convention countries, religious upbringing, domestic abuse and allegations of rape.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Thomas enjoyed a career in the assurance industry, training with one of the ‘Big 4’ accounting firms and chartering as an Accountant in 2019.
