She is known to be a calm, professional advocate with a personable approach. Tory will provide realistic advice to clients as to the merits of their case but is a robust advocate on her feet.
Tory is regularly instructed in complex matters including multi day fact finds, including cases of non-accidental injury, sexual abuse of children, indecent images and rape. Other complex matters include international jurisdiction matters, Female Genital Mutilation cases, wardship applications before the High Court and contested interim and final care orders and contested Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) applications.
Tory is instructed to represent Local Authorities, Parents (including through the Official Solicitor) and Guardians.
When representing Local Authorities, Tory benefits from a detailed knowledge of internal procedures and practice that comes with being a Local Authority advocate over a number of years.
She is able to provide realistic advice and when representing children or parents, is able to advance her clients’ position though all stages of proceedings and robustly represent them at contested hearings.
Tory appears for both parents and 16.4 guardians in private law matters in relation to children. She has significant experience in Child Arrangement Orders, including determination of contact and residence of children as well as fact finding hearings.
