Verity is regularly instructed in personal injury matters. She is also frequently instructed to represent both sides in a range of civil matters in the small claims track, accepting instructions on a Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA) basis where appropriate. Verity accepts instructions to represent parties in court as well as to provide written advice on liability and quantum. She also regularly deals with Infant Approval hearings, Stage 3 hearings and small claims.
Verity has experience in human rights and public law practice in respect of immigration; this is primarily through the challenging of decisions of the Secretary of State for the Home Department. She accepts instructions in respect of Judicial Reviews of SSHD refusals, removal directions or deportation arrangements.
Verity accepts instructions in contractual disputes and bankruptcy matters.
Verity’s practice covers the full spectrum of immigration law. Her core areas of immigration practice are asylum, humanitarian protection, economic and student migration, Points Based System (PBS), free movement of EEA nationals, Article 8 human rights and British nationality.
Regularly instructed in the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal, Verity also accepts instructions in respect of challenging deportations and bail hearings. She advises on matters of nationality, including automatic acquisition of citizenship, naturalisation and registration.
Verity accepts instructions to provide written advice on matters of nationality and the effect of adoption orders and care proceedings on children’s immigration status.
Verity is currently completing a PhD at the University of Durham in Public International Law with a focus on international and internal armed conflicts. Before commencing pupillage, she taught various courses at Durham Law School, including Interscholastic Mooting and Criminal Law. Verity lectures on public international law and coaches the Durham Jessup Moot team.
