Trinity Construction, Business and Property barrister, Adam Chaffer will be a guest speaker at the Newcastle & North of England Law Society's 5th Property Law Seminar.
The free-to-attend event will be an engaging session of insight and discussion exploring some of the key risks and emerging issues affecting today's property practitioners. The seminar will provide practical guidance on navigating construction risk, managing residential and commercial transactions, and understanding the growing role of property auctions. This session will be of interest to a range of property lawyers who advise buyers, sellers, developers or commercial clients.
Adam's talk is entitled: 'Mind the Gap': Construction Risk in Residential Conveyancing - What Every Conveyancing Solicitor Needs to Know from New Build to Resale.
Construction-related issues increasingly affect everyday residential conveyancing transactions. In his talk, Adam will explore the practical risks facing conveyancers, from cladding and fire safety concerns to EWS1 forms, latent defects and the impact of the Building Safety Act 2022 on leasehold sales. Drawing on recent case law and legislative developments, he will provide practical guidance on identifying risks early, advising clients confidently and recognising when specialist construction advice may be required.
The event will be introduced by Russell Hewitson, Deputy Vice President, The Newcastle and North of England Law Society, The Associate Professor of Law at Northumbria University and Law Society Council Member for Commercial Property.
