Sports Law Silks & Barristers

Sports Law spans several areas of expertise within Trinity and the broad spread of expertise in Chambers means that all areas of sports law are very well catered for. From civil and employment through to governance, regulatory and criminal, the areas which are covered include contractual and financial disputes, insolvency and restructuring, employment, discrimination, company and commercial, intellectual property, immigration, licensing, sponsorship, disorderly behaviour, anti-doping, match/spot-fixing, professional discipline, misfeasance, safeguarding, child protection, and health and safety.

Trinity’s Sports Law K.C.s and barristers provide discrete, prompt and pragmatic expert legal advice and advocacy to sports clubs and organisations, managers, sports officials, commercial partners, agents, intermediaries, sponsors, individual players and athletes, governing bodies, sports associations and unions, from grass roots through to professional.

As well as extensive Court experience, Trinity’s Sports Law King’s Counsel and barristers deal with and sit on mediations, arbitrations and a range of sporting tribunals governed and regulated by national governing bodies, such as the Football Association, English Football League, Rugby Football Union, British Boxing Board of Control, British Showjumping and UK Anti-Doping.

Internal Investigations - sports organisations can face a wide range of internal issues that require investigation by an independent third party, including allegations of discrimination, misconduct, racism, bullying, sexual harassment, theft and fraud. A thorough and impartial investigation demonstrates strong governance and rigour, and can be the best course of action to minimise day-to-day disruption, manage risk, and protect an organisation's reputation. Trinity’s Investigations team can assist with early assessment, interviews, document review and report writing.

Several of the barristers in the Sports Law team are also members of the British Association for Sport and Law (BASL).
