In (1) Paul Smith (2) Jamie McDonnell v (1) British Boxing Board of Control Ltd (2) Frank Warren (3) Dennis Hobson (2015) QBD 13/04/2015) Trinity barrister Richard Stubbs successfully resisted an application before Judge Bird in Liverpool to have the British Boxing Board of Control removed as arbitrator under the Arbitration Act 1996 s.24 on the grounds that there were justifiable doubts regarding the Board's impartiality.
The application for the removal of the British Boxing Board of Control arose following a dispute with the former managers of Jamie McDonnell, WBA World Bantamweight titleholder and his manager/promoter Dennis Hobson for whom Richard Stubbs acted. Frank Warren was the manager of the other professional boxer, Paul Smith.
