Trinity's Caroline Goodwin was formally appointed Queen’s Counsel on Monday 13 February 2017, when the Lord Chancellor, Elizabeth Truss, presented Caroline with Letters Patent from Her Majesty The Queen.The ceremony took place at Westminster Hall.
The appointment of Queen's Counsel reflects excellence in advocacy and follows an extensive application and interview process. Appointments are made by Her Majesty The Queen on the advice of the Lord Chancellor following consideration by the independent Queen’s Counsel Selection Panel.
As well as being a senior Criminal and Regulatory advocate, Caroline has been a Crown Court Recorder since 2010. Caroline is a member of Trinity's Criminal, Regulatory and Licensing practice groups. Regularly recognised in the leading legal directories, Caroline is a highly regarded and experienced advocate instructed in all aspects of both defence and prosecution case work. Caroline is instructed in serious and high profile cases heard in the House of Lords, Court of Appeal and Crown Court. Caroline's forensic case preparation, tenacious cross-examination, careful witness handling and robust Court room presence have gained her a reputation as a formidable jury advocate.
In addition, Caroline has been a regular contributor to Trinity's programme of seminars and training events delivered to solicitors, police authorities and Crown Prosecution Service on topics including advocacy skills, serious sexual offences, vulnerable witnesses and Coroner's Inquests.
