On the evening of Thursday 5 March 2020, Trinity Criminal and Regulatory Silk and Criminal Bar Association Chair Caroline Goodwin Q.C. will be a guest speaker at Leeds Beckett Law School.
The free lecture, that takes place between 6pm and 7pm at Woodhouse Lecture Theatre 2, City Campus, Leeds Beckett University, is entitled "A barrister’s lot" and is part of Leeds Law School’s Law in Practice series.
Caroline, who is also a sitting Crown Court Recorder, will share her experiences of dealing with serious and high-profile cases over the course of her career which have been heard in the House of Lords, the Court of Appeal and Crown Court. She will talk through her life at the Bar, together with stories about the issues which practitioners must contend with, including the challenges and her achievements as the current Chair of the Criminal Bar Association.
The event coincides with the recent news that Trinity has opened a Chambers in Leeds, a city that is increasingly being regarded as one of the largest legal hubs outside of London. Leeds Beckett Law School has over many years developed a strong network and connections with the region's legal community that Trinity Chambers is now a part of.
The School's Law in Practice events are open to legal professionals, students and those with an interest in the subject area. Past lectures have been delivered by prominent members of the legal community, such as MP Sir Keir Starmer QC, Catherine Dixon, CEO of the Law Society, England & Wales, Joe Egan, President of the Law Society of England and Wales, Professor Nick Hardwick, Former Head of Parole Board and Shami Chakrabarti, Director of Liberty. Future speakers include the first Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire, Mark Burns-Williams OBE and Ex-Master of the Rolls, Lord John Dyson.
