Continuing Contribution to Newcastle Chancery Bar Litigant in Person Support Scheme (NCLIPS)

Barristers from Trinity Chambers’ Business and Property group are continuing to support the Newcastle Chancery Bar Litigant in Person Support Scheme (“NCLIPS”) by volunteering their time to provide advice and advocacy to litigants in person who have cases in the District Judge Business and Property Applications List.

NCLIPS, set up in May 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, runs in collaboration with the local Bar, Advocate and Support Through Court. Volunteer barristers from local chambers attend the Civil and Family Court and Tribunals Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne each Tuesday to provide ‘on the day’ advice and advocacy to litigants in person.

The scheme is open to volunteers from all areas of the Chancery Bar, including members of the ChBA, COMBAR, TECBAR, PBA, ELBA and SAHCA who are seeking an opportunity to support litigants, expand their practice, or gain advocacy experience.

Commenting on the collaborative initiative, Trinity barrister and scheme coordinator, Seth Kitson, said,
“I am delighted that so many of our local specialists have stepped up to help ensure access to justice for all parties. The quality of Chancery barristers and solicitors in the region is exceptional: the public will be well served by this scheme.”

More information about NCLIPS can be found on the Advocate website and for those wishing to sign up to the rota please email Seth Kitson at Trinity Chambers, s.kitson@trinitychambers.co.uk.
