Trinity's members and staff warmly welcome two experienced civil practitioners to Chambers, Damian Murphy and Fiona Todd.
Damian Murphy was called to the Bar in 2001 after a career as a management consultant at Accenture, advising blue-chip clients in investment banking, pharmaceuticals, and government. Since then, he has emerged as a leading barrister in the field of electronic disclosure, notably running the electronic disclosure element of the major competition law action reported at EWRG & CEF v Philips and others [2012]. Damian launched his own chambers specialising in electronic disclosure before moving to UBS as eDiscovery Counsel and Head of eDiscovery for EMEA and APAC. He later joined Lighthouse, where he led projects developing electronic disclosure programmes for multinational corporations. Since his return to the Bar in 2024, Damian continues to focus on electronic disclosure, and he is currently the lead junior responsible for electronic disclosure in a large shareholder dispute and frequently provides training to firms of solicitors on electronic disclosure under the Civil Procedure Rules.
Damian is also instructed across a broad range of commercial litigation, chancery, property and insolvency matters in the High Court and County Courts. His extensive experience includes handling applications for freezing orders, contractual disputes, professional negligence, and partnership actions. Damian has represented high-profile clients including a hall of fame international cricketer and a major British football club. His property-related work encompasses actions for possession, orders for sale, declarations of beneficial interest, rights of way, relief from forfeiture, and disputes arising from water ingress.
Damian also provides expert advice on GDPR compliance, including cross-border data transfers involving jurisdictions such as China and Saudi Arabia. As a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe, he brings valuable insight into data privacy matters, enhancing Chambers’ offering in this rapidly evolving area of law.
Fiona Todd was called to the Bar in 2014 and is instructed in a wide range of chancery, property, contentious probate, insolvency, and commercial litigation matters, some with an international element. Fiona is Ranked as leading junior in the 2025 Legal 500: “A very thorough junior with a logical approach.” Chancery, Probate & Tax; “extremely thorough, very friendly and always on hand to help.” Property & Construction. Fiona’s clients range from banks, professionals, individuals, business owners and corporations to local authorities. She frequently acts as sole counsel in the High Court, County Courts, and the First-Tier Tribunal and has established a strong paper practice.
Fiona's real property expertise includes easements, adverse possession, boundary disputes, land registration, nuisance, trusts of land, co-ownership issues, and landlord and tenant work. She is particularly noted for her work in property insolvency, including forfeiture, insolvent tenants, and disclaimer matters. Fiona has developed a substantial probate practice, with extensive experience in Inheritance Act claims, construction and rectification of wills, validity disputes, and removal of personal representatives. She has a particular interest in cases involving international succession and issues of domicile.
In her insolvency practice, Fiona acts for and against liquidators, trustees in bankruptcy, receivers, and administrators in a broad range of matters. She also has significant experience in winding up proceedings, including injunctions to restrain presentation or advertisement of petitions, recission of winding-up orders, and disputed debt cases. She is instructed in bankruptcy proceedings, including applications to set aside statutory demands and annulments. Additionally, her expertise extends to appellate-level advocacy and advising on insolvent estates of deceased persons. Fiona is also instructed in a broad range of commercial disputes, with particular emphasis on contractual matters, including building disputes, unjust enrichment claims, sale of goods, and consumer credit issues.
