Established specialist Employment, Education and Regulatory barrister, Helen Hogben is a further recent addition to Trinity Chambers.
Practising predominantly in Teesside, Helen regularly represents clients in the Employment Tribunal, misconduct and disciplinary hearings and in the First-Tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability). Helen's lay and solicitor clients have included employees and employers in the private sector, trade unions, local authorities and police authorities. Helen has particular experience in cases involving allegations of discrimination and victimisation in the NHS and the Police.
As employment issues are often linked to allegations of professional misconduct, Helen also has extensive experience in advising and representing professionals facing a range of disciplinary or regulatory proceedings, including police misconduct hearings. Most recently, she successfully defended both a Police Constable and a Chief Inspector facing allegations of Gross Misconduct which resulted in both officers being able to keep their warrant cards.
Helen was called to the Bar in 2006 after a successful commercial career. She will join Trinity's Employment Law, Regulatory and Administrative and Public Law teams.
Commenting on the new tenant, Head of Trinity's Employment Law team Jane Callan said "Trinity's Employment Team goes from strength to strength and is extremely pleased to welcome Helen Hogben. Helen's strong Teesside practice complements the Team in which members practice across the North, Scotland and throughout the UK."
