At Durham Crown Court, Trinity Criminal and Regulatory barrister, David Comb recently successfully prosecuted Ben Whale for attempted murder following a hammer attack that took place at a flat in Chester-le-Street in October 2021. The victim suffered extensive leg and facial injuries.
Having categorised the attack as sadistic, Durham Crown Court went on to impose a 33 year extended sentence on Mr Whale, comprising of a 28 year custodial sentence and 5 year licence extension.
