Specialist Trinity Family and Matrimonial Finance barrister, Timothy Spain, will be speaking at a forthcoming CPD accredited Family Law Seminar hosted by the Yorkshire Law Society.

In April 2014, a single Family Court will replace the existing family jurisdictions of the County Courts and Magistrates' Courts, and will unify their existing procedures. This seminar, entitled "A Survival Guide to the Impending Changes in the Family Courts" and aimed at experienced family solicitors will bring attendees up to date with case law in both public and private children and matrimonial finance in relation to the proposed changes. The session will look at the new sections of the Act and any significant changes to case management. Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), in particular Arbitration, will also be considered and how solicitors can benefit from this financially and in terms of time.

As well as sitting as a Deputy District Judge, Timothy Spain is a member of the Institute of Family Law Arbitrators (IFLA) Panel and is qualified to conduct Family Law Arbitrations and make orders under the IFLA rules, including in matrimonial finance and Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 (ToLATA) proceedings. He is a member of Trinity Chambers' ArbitrationCostsFamily and Matrimonial FinanceMental Health and Court of Protection practice groups.
