In a follow up to a seminar held shortly before lockdown and hosted by wealth managers Brewin Dolphin, a webinar focused on family law finance and arbitration will take place on the morning of Thursday 22nd October 2020.
Trinity Family barrister, Deputy District Judge and Chartered Family Law Arbitrator, Tim Spain will explore the increasing use and benefits of the Family Law Arbitration process, particularly given short term (lockdown and social distancing) and long term (court backlogs) challenges posed by COVID-19. Tim will provide real examples of successful Arbitrations, including some carried out completely remotely. Feedback from solicitors involved in a recent remote Arbitration included: "very impressed by the speed and efficiency by which it was set up compared to the Court process.” "The process was flawless and will, in the interests of all professionals and clients, be promoted far and wide."
In addition, exploring the increasing use of Pension Information and Assessment Meetings (PIAMs) will be pensions expert, George Mathieson from Mathieson Consulting, specialists in providing actuarial and expert witness services in divorce cases. George will be joined by Mena Ruparel, Family Law Practitioner, trainer and author.
The webinar is due to start at 10am, concluding at approximately 11.15am. Please email neil.mcloram@brewin.co.uk to reserve a place.
Tim has recently again been recognised in the leading legal directories for his matrimonial finance work:

COVID-19
In response to the impact of COVID-19, barristers from Trinity's Family and Matrimonial Finance team and Clerks have worked with instructing solicitors to develop a range of remotely accessible Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) options and support, including remote Private FDRs and Family Law Arbitration hearings. Trinity has 3 IFLA Arbitrators and several members of the team sit as Deputy District Judges.
Trinity's Family and Matrimonial Finance barristers and clerking team recognise that some of these solutions may be new to many of our clients and as such we would be more than happy to spend some time discussing the various options available, the process, technical/IT requirements and likely fees.
