Stephen Cobb Q.C., door tenant at Trinity Barristers’ Chambers, has been appointed as a Justice of the High Court following the retirement of Mr Justice Hedley.

Family, Child Care, Adoption, Human Rights and Court of Protection specialist, Stephen Cobb Q.C. will be assigned to the Family Division. His appointment will take effect from 11th January 2013. Stephen Cobb Q.C. became a barrister in 1985 and took Silk in 2003. He became a Recorder in 2004 and sits as a Deputy High Court Judge. In addition, he was Chairman of the Family Law Bar Association in 2010.

Stephen Cobb Q.C. recently led one of Trinity’s family barristers, Justin Gray in the Supreme Court which was screened live through Sky News' Supreme Court coverage service. Stephen Cobb Q.C. was a welcome member of Trinity’s Family and Mental Health and Court of Protection practice groups. He is highly regarded for raising concerns in relation to cut backs in public funding and the effect that this would have on the most vulnerable members of society. The barristers at Trinity Chambers wish Stephen Cobb Q.C. every success in his new role on the Family Division Bench.
