Trinity barrister, Simon Goldberg and Andrew Entwistle of Land Agents and Chartered Surveyors, George F. White, will be delivering a lunchtime seminar exploring the complexities and challenges of professional valuations.
The talk, taking place at Trinity Chambers, The Custom House, Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 3DE on Wednesday 17th October between 12 noon and 2pm, is entitled: "An Insight into Professional Valuations".
Simon Goldberg, Recorder, Barrister, and Head of Trinity Chambers’ Business and Property Group will be discussing 'The Duties of Professional Valuers: what are they and to whom are they owed?'. The session will explore the bases of liability, duties to third parties, standards of care and losses, as well as reviewing up to date case law and procedure.
George F White Partner, Andrew Entwistle will examine 'What is Hope Value? (and other definitions)', providing a guide as to how property valuations should defined in legal contracts, and examples of where definitions have gone wrong, from both the legal and surveying perspectives. As Head of Valuation at George F White, Andrew deals with the most difficult and challenging valuation assignments. He also sits on the RICS Valuation Standards Board and is regularly appointed as an expert witness in valuation disputes and litigation. Having received recognition in dealing with restrictive covenants at the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber), Andrew also advises clients UK-wide on dealing with restrictions on property.
The session will be of particular interest to commercial property, agricultural, litigation, land law and professional negligence lawyers and solicitors.
