Trinity Chambers’ Regulatory barrister James Kemp represented Hartlepool Borough Council in the prosecution of a local care home owner Matt Matharu who after a nine-day trial was found guilty by jury at Teesside Crown Court for breaches of health and safety which resulted in the death of a resident at the home.
HHJ Taylor adjourned sentence until the 6th January 2015 to consider the complex issue of sentence given that the defendant was the sole owner of the home and not through a company.
James Kemp is a member of Trinity Chambers' Regulatory, Personal Injury, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Business, Chancery and Court of Protection practice groups. James is also a member of the Specialist Regulatory Advocates in Health and Safety and Environmental Law Panel. He has been recognised in the Legal 500 - "James Kemp is noted for his ‘precise advice, given in a very timely and cost-effective way’".
