On Tuesday 1st December 2020 Trinity Housing Law barrister Peter Marcus will be a guest speaker at the online Homes UK Conference discussing the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 and defending housing disrepair claims.
Starting at 12 noon, Peter will discuss defending housing disrepair claims as part of the Sustainable Futures Stream entitled: "Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act: how are landlords stepping up?"
Now fully in force for all tenancies, this session will explore how the legislation is impacting landlords, including how the sector is changing its practices and innovating to mitigate the impact of claims, as well as what can be learned from housing conditions claims in practice. The stream will also examine how technology can be deployed to reduce the risks of disrepair and claims.
Joining Peter will be Angela Stuttard, Head of property care at Together Housing Group and Lord Richard Best OBE DL, Chair of the Affordable Housing Commission who took the Act through the Lords.
The virtual Conference is an opportunity for the housing sector to collaborate and, post-COVID-19, plan for the industry following a year of unprecedented challenges.
