Trinity international criminal and human rights barrister, Matthew Crowe, has appeared on Ukrainian television as part of his involvement in the International Humanitarian Law Reform project.
Matthew was speaking at a press conference discussing crimes against humanity committed during the protests at Maidan square in Kyiv which took place between November 2013 and February 2014.
The International Humanitarian Law Reform project, coordinated by Global Rights Compliance, aims to prepare the Ukraine for full membership of the International Criminal Court in addition to assessing the compliance of the Ukrainian legal system with international humanitarian standards. The ultimate goal of the project is to ensure sustainable and effective accountability processes to address war related crime and violations of international law.
The first phase of the initiative involves project staff conducting round-table meetings, training sessions and working groups, engaging with members of the relevant Ukrainian legal, judicial and political community. During the project Matthew will be working alongside Wayne Jordash Q.C. and Scott Martin as well as several Ukrainian lawyers.
