International Women's Day 2025 : #Accelerate Action

To celebrate International Women's Day on 8th March 2025 and its theme of ‘Accelerate Action’, Trinity's Claire Brissenden, Anu Kaura and Oluwapelumi Amanda Adeola recently held a round table discussion in Chambers to explore a wide range of challenges faced by women in the legal profession.

Chaired by Claire, in the discussion Anu and Oluwapelumi each share their experiences of transitioning from being solicitors to a career at the Bar, discussing the biggest challenges they faced and what more can be done to support women making similar career moves.

The session examines gender equity and considers the possible changes across the industry that could have the greatest impact. The discussion also highlights the vital role of mentorship and sponsorship in supporting the next generation of women barristers and how senior figures - both male and female - can play a more active role in championing progress. Finally, the session considers the ongoing challenges of maintaining a work-life balance in such a demanding profession and what needs to change to create a more sustainable career path for women.
