Trinity Housing Law Barrister, Alice Richardson, was a guest speaker in a webinar delivered by Landlord Law on Friday 24th April 2020, a recording of which is available to purchase here.
Landlord Law is an online information service and membership organisation providing support, training and legal resources for professionals in the private rented sector.
The session focused on the validity of a section 8 notice served by a landlord and in particular the Court of Appeal case of Pease v. Carter, in which Alice is instructed. The webinar covered:
- The background to the case and section 8 notices
- The issues covered by the case and why it went to the Court of Appeal
- About the hearing and the arguments used, and
- The wider implications of this case for notices - in particular other possession notices
Tessa Shepperson, specialist landlord and tenant solicitor who runs the Landlord Law information service, co-hosted the session.
Proceeds from ticket sales for the live webinar and Alice's speaker's fee were donated to Women's Aid, raising £500.
