On the evening of Monday 2nd October 2023 the next meeting of the Newcastle Business and Property Court Forum will take place at Northumbria University Law School, City Campus East, Newcastle upon Tyne. Given the anticipated wide-reaching and national interest in the topic, this will also be a hybrid event.
Newcastle's retiring and new specialist Business & Property Court Judges, HH Judges Philip Kramer and Malcolm Davis-White K.C., will co-chair the session entitled:
"Sanctions: a "peaceful, silent, deadly remedy" - What are economic sanctions and what do businesses (and their lawyers) need to know about them?
The guest speakers, barrister Matthew Happold, Professor of Public International Law at the University of Luxembourg and Ashley Borthwick, regulatory compliance and enforcement lawyer Womble Bond Dickinson, are each senior authorities on economic sanctions.
The event is free to attend with refreshments from 5.30 pm for a 6pm start. The event will be online from 6pm.
The Newcastle Business & Property Court Forum was initiated by Trinity barristers in collaboration with members of the North East's legal community. Members of Chambers also sit on the Forum's Committee.
