Already qualified as an Institute of Family Law Arbitrators (IFLA) Children Scheme Arbitrator, Financial Remedy and Private Law Children Door Tenant, Patrick Goodings MCIArb has also recently qualified as a Financial Scheme Arbitrator.
The Financial Scheme can be used to resolve a wide range of issues including financial and property disputes arising following the breakdown of a marriage, judicial separation or nullity, Civil partnership and its breakdown, co-habitation and its termination, as well as dealing with provision from a deceased’s estate.
A qualified Arbitrator may be instructed by both sides jointly to determine any particular points in dispute.
Patrick, who now works for International Offshore Law Firm, Marshall Diel and Myers Ltd In Bermuda said:
"The Financial Scheme allows parties to resolve issues in respect of their matrimonial finances outside of, but alongside the Court arena whilst maintaining the formality and robustness of contested proceedings. Trinity Chambers is leading the way in respect of Family Arbitration in the North of England in this developing area of law. I am looking forward to developing my Arbitration Practice from Marshall Diel and Myers Ltd in Bermuda."
As early adopters of this increasingly popular form of Non-Court Dispute Resolution, Trinity's Family team has developed an easy-to-follow animation to explain when Family Arbitration can be used, share its advantages, particularly in terms of avoiding challenges with Court listings, how the process works and what steps to take next. The animation entitled ‘What is Family Arbitration?’ that is also designed to be shared with lay clients unsure about the process, can be found here:
