The case is being heard at the Newcastle upon Tyne Crown Court. The Defendant Police Officer is charged in the Indictment with a total of 26 offences comprising 5 of rape, 6 of indecent assault and 15 of misconduct in a public office. The offences relate to 16 different alleged victims spanning a period of 7 years. The trial is expected to last 8 weeks.
