Family barrister, Alan Inglis joins Trinity Chambers. Alan is the only Counsel specialising in family law who practises on both sides of the Scottish Border. He has practised in England since 1989 and in Scotland since 2009. He is uniquely placed to advise and represent on conflict of jurisdiction within Great Britain relating to children and/or matrimonial finance.
Formerly a social worker, Alan has experience of complex care proceedings, including paediatric homicide, alleged ‘baby shaking’ injuries, sexual abuse and factitious illness. He has appeared in the ground-breaking cases on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) family breakdown.
Alan has represented and advised parties in complex matrimonial finance applications on both sides of the Scotland/ England border – including one where the assets amounted to £210 million. Alan also has a particular interest in Hague Convention proceedings. He has written and lectured on personal injury claims arising from Child Protection failures.
The dual qualified barrister joins Trinity Chambers’ Family and Ancillary Relief practice group. Head of the group, Nicholas Stonor said of Trinity Chambers’ latest tenant “Alan is a very experienced family law practitioner with an excellent reputation. His dual qualification in Scotland means that he brings particular expertise in cases involving cross-border disputes and wider jurisdictional issues. He is a great addition to the Family and Ancillary Relief group and we are delighted that he has joined us.”
