Shada Mellor Secures Special Verdicts of Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity

Trinity Criminal and Regulatory barrister, Shada Mellor secured special verdicts of Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity following a nine-day trial at Newcastle Crown Court.

Shada’s client was tried on indictment for offences of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm and Intentional Strangulation. During the trial, four Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists gave evidence, three called by the defence.

On a finding of Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, the Court has limited disposal powers, the case has been adjourned for consideration of disposal.
