Simon Goldberg Q.C.'s recent Silk appointment has been featured in the latest edition of Newcastle News, the bi-monthly magazine of the Newcastle Upon Tyne Law Society.
The article recognises that Simon is the first and only specialist Business and Property, as well as Employment, Silk based in the North East.
In the article, reflecting on his appointment Simon comments:
“It is a great honour to be the first Newcastle-based commercial and employment barrister to take Silk. When I started as a pupil in Chambers in 1999, I was warned that I may need to leave the area if I wished to develop a decent practice in my chosen areas. As someone born, brought up and educated in Newcastle, I am delighted that my decision to stay and build my professional life here has been vindicated through my appointment as a QC.
I have no doubt that my appointment is a reflection of the quality of all those providing legal services in our region: solicitors, the Bar and the Judiciary. Now that the glass ceiling has been broken, I hope that my career path will encourage talented young lawyers to eschew the bright lights of London and to contribute to a thriving legal sector in the North East.”
Head of Trinity's Business and Property Team, Simon was called to the Bar in 1999. He became a Crime, Civil & Chancery Recorder in 2018 and was a member of the Attorney General’s Regional Panel of Counsel for over 10 years. His practice has been consistently recognised in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners directories.
