On the evening of Thursday 5th December Trowers & Hamlins solicitors will be hosting the second meeting of the Northern branch of the Social Housing Law Association (SHLA) at their Manchester offices. In support and for the benefit of SHLA North Eastern members, Muckle LLP will be hosting a video link of the seminar at their Newcastle offices.
The seminar is entitled "Going Forward with the Equality Act. How do Social Landlords Respond to Discrimination Defences?". The event will be chaired by barrister Brynmor Adams with contributions from Nicholas Grundy Q.C. and Donna McCarthy, Partner at Devonshires Solicitors .
SHLA is an organisation of and for social housing professionals and their lawyers. Its members are made up of local authorities, housing associations, housing and policy professionals and solicitors and barristers who regularly represent social landlords. In addition to the North, SHLA has branches in London and the Midlands.
Trinity Housing barrister, Alice Richardson is a member of the recently formed SHLA North Committee and hopes to continue raising the profile of the Association in the region through such events.
