Steven Reed Successfully Defends Officer at Misconduct Hearing Relating to Police Dog Deployment

Trinity Professional Disciplinary and Misconduct barrister, Steven Reed, successfully defended PC Terry Davidson of South Yorkshire Police at a police Misconduct Hearing, that took place on 26 and 27 May 2026.

PC Davidson faced allegations that he had breached the police Standards of Professional Behaviour of use of force; order and instructions; authority, respect and courtesy; and discreditable conduct. The allegations arose from PC Davidson’s deployment of his police dog when arresting a suspect on 23 January 2024.

Following a 2-day hearing, the misconduct panel determined that PC Davidson’s deployment of his police dog was justified. Accordingly, the misconduct panel found that all the allegations were not proved, and the case against PC Davidson was dismissed.

Steven was instructed by Mr. Chris Corkindale of Burton Copeland solicitors and the Police Federation of England and Wales.

Steven specialises in all aspects of Police misconduct. Prior to joining the Bar, Steven was a Police Superintendent. He regularly represents Police Officers and Police Authorities at Misconduct Hearings across England and Wales.
