Successful Defence of Police Officer by Trinity's Steven Reed at North Wales Misconduct Hearing

Trinity Professional Disciplinary and Misconduct barrister, Steven Reed, successfully defended PC Reilly at a Police Misconduct Hearing that took place on 26 and 27 November 2025, at North Wales Police Headquarters.

PC Reilly faced allegations that he had provided false testimony whilst giving evidence at Court, which the appropriate authority alleged amounted to breaches of the honesty and integrity and discreditable conduct standards of professional behaviour.

Reliant on expert medical evidence, Steven successfully advanced arguments that PC Reilly was entitled to protections from the Equality Act 2010 in these proceedings. Having heard all the evidence, the Panel concluded that PC Reilly’s accepted incorrect answers were not dishonest and instead were genuine errors, caused by a combination of the factual circumstances in which he gave his evidence and his engagement of his disabilities.

Accordingly, the Panel found that the allegations were unproved and dismissed all the allegations against PC Reilly.

Steven was instructed by Mr Dan Weed and Mr Chris Corkindale from Burton Copeland in this case.
