The Childcare Disparity in Indirect Sex Discrimination Claims - James McHugh

Trinity Employment Law barrister, James McHugh delivers a recorded talk entitled 'The Childcare Disparity in Indirect Sex Discrimination Claims'.

James' session closely explores two recent Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) authorities which deal with the issue and how the Employment Tribunal should be taking the disparity into account in conjunction with other evidence.

As well as focussing on the relevant case law, the talk is also a useful refresher for employment lawyers on the basis of indirect sex discrimination claims under the Equality Act 2010.

Topics covered in the talk include:

  • Section 19 of the Equality Act 2010
  • Dobson v North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust [2021] ICR 1699
  • Cowie v Scottish Fire and Rescue Service [2022] ICR 1693

There is a handout that accompanies the session. If you do not have a copy and would like one, please email Trinity Chambers’ Employment team clerk, josh@trinitychambers.co.uk.
