Trinity barrister, Christopher Knox is featured in a television series currently being shown on BBC One.
The ten episode series, ‘Northern Justice’, examines the work of several North East based law firms as they help ordinary people through extraordinary times in their lives. The programmes follow several different cases covering a wide range of legal issues, including criminal, personal injury, financial mis-selling, intellectual property, immigration, actions against the police, probate, conveyancing and housing.
In the episode featuring Christopher Knox, former police officer and sub-postmaster Peter stood accused of stealing £46,000 from the Post Office. Together with criminal solicitor Denise Jackman, Christopher Knox was part of Peter’s criminal defence team. As later investigations would reveal, Peter was in fact part of one of the worst miscarriages of justice in modern British history. The episode follows Denise Jackman’s work in keeping Peter out of prison, and after his death, shows his widow's legal team helping to clear his name.
