As part of Leeds Beckett Law School's series of special COVID-19 "Law in Practice" events, Trinity Business & Property barrister, Graham Bartlett, will be a guest speaker at a webinar to be held on Wednesday 8th July 2020 focussing on Business Interruption Insurance claims.
On 23rd March 2020, the Government announced that all non-essential businesses must close to help national UK efforts to contain COVID-19 and protect the NHS. As the country faces the worst recession in living memory, with the likelihood that even household names will enter administration, the number of insurance claims for business interruption, namely income losses as a result of external factors, has increased significantly and will continue to do so.
The webinar will take place between 12:30pm - 14:00pm, and will include a summary of the legal position relating to Business Interruption Insurance as well as practical advice, followed by a Q&A session.
Insurance expert Graham will be joined in the webinar by James Morris, Managing Partner of Indemnity Law, a firm of solicitors specialising exclusively in the resolution of disputed insurance claims.
Graham, a former practising Chartered Loss Adjuster, advises policyholders, brokers and insurers on disputed claims and all aspects relating to the interpretation and application of insurance contracts. Graham has an insurance blog and regularly writes articles in The Journal, the official magazine of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He has given educational webinars for student members of the CILA and is a member of the British Insurance Lawyers Association.
Having seen the insurance market from all sides, James advises commercial policyholders on how best to challenge insurers when claims are declined or policies cancelled or avoided.
