Following the recent publication of a guide to the new "Pavement Licence" regime that Trinity licensing barrister, Charles Holland has co-authored, he will be a guest speaker at a webinar taking place at 2pm on Wednesday 1st July 2020 covering the topic.
The webinar will focus on the Business and Planning Bill 2019-21 and the introduction of the new “Pavement Licence” enabling businesses selling food and drink to apply to local authorities for permission to put tables and chairs outside their premises. This temporary measure, designed to encourage social distancing, bypasses the vast array of consents ordinarily required, including planning, Highways Act and street trading legislation. Other speakers include fellow authors of the guidance, Sarah Clover and Leo Charalambides of Kings Chambers.
The session is in support of NEXSTART, the National Exit Strategy Advice and Response Team for the licensed hospitality and entertainment industry. Formed in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, in its mission statement NEXSTART is described as "a coalition of experts working together to identify issues, work to find solutions, contribute to guidance, and act as a resource to support a national strategy for the safe and successful exit of this industry from lockdown. NEXSTART seeks to balance the needs of the public, business and enforcement authorities."
