With effect from 15 April 2014, Trinity barrister, Jane Callan has been appointed by the Lord Chancellor as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Social Entitlement Chamber based in the Scottish Region.
Jane will sit on cases dealing with Social Security and Child Support benefits. This jurisdiction complements her employment law and Employment Tribunal experience which she continues to build upon and take forward by acting in complex discrimination and employment-related issues.
Jane is a member of the Treasury Solicitor's regional and Equality and Human Rights Commission Preferred Panels of Counsel. As well as heading Trinity's Employment Law group, Jane is a member of Chambers' Regulatory and Judicial Review teams. Jane was recognised in the 2014 edition of Chambers UK - "Has focused her practice entirely on employment and discrimination law. She is frequently instructed on behalf of claimants, and acts for a range of clients including local authorities and NHS trusts."
