On Saturday 19 March 2022, in glorious sunshine, Trinity Chambers were delighted to host the latest session of ‘Vulnerable Witness Advocacy Training (VWAT)’ - a programme of training which is being rolled out across England and Wales by the Family Law Bar Association.
Trinity Chambers’ Nicholas Stonor Q.C., who is one of the facilitators at the training, said:
“It is a radical programme of training, designed by the Inns of Court College of Advocacy, with the aim of reforming the way advocates ask questions of vulnerable adults and children. It reflects the crucial importance of promoting the effective participation of vulnerable persons in Family Court proceedings and of allowing vulnerable witnesses to give their best quality evidence. Facilitators and delegates attended from near and far and enjoyed training which is challenging but extremely rewarding. We were very pleased to welcome them here at The Custom House.”
