In recognition of his contribution to policing and supporting victims in Cleveland, Trinity criminal barrister Christopher Knox has been nominated to receive a Crime and Justice Command Commendation for his work in Operation Fibre.
The Commendation Ceremony took place on Wednesday 10th December at Middlehaven Police Station. Detective Chief Superintendent Darren Best presented Christopher Knox with the commendation.
Crown Court Recorder, and Deputy Head of Chambers, Christopher Knox, led the prosecution team that successfully prosecuted three men accused of grooming and child sex offences. Following the six week trial at Teesside Crown Court Defendant Ateeq Latif was found guilty of two counts of arranging or facilitating commission of a child sex offence, his victims were both aged 14. A second Defendant, Shakil Munir was found guilty of four counts of sexual activity with a child and one of child abduction. Prior to the trial a third Defendant, Sakib Ahmed admitted five counts of sexual activity with a child.
Christopher Knox was recently recognised in Chambers UK 2015: “He is recommended for his capabilities in serious sex offences and cases involving informants. Successfully prosecuted members of a sex attack gang who groomed underage girls"” and in the Legal 500 2014: "He always goes the extra mile".
