Trinity Criminal Barristers Seminars

Approximately 100 delegates attended Trinity Chambers’ two mirror criminal law seminars held on 28th February at Teesside University and 2nd March at Northumbria University. 

Trinity’s Criminal barristers Christopher Knox and Caroline Goodwin each delivered lectures. The sessions covered the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) - in particular the Supreme Court judgement in the significant confiscation case of R v Waya [2012] UKSC 51 as well as the influence of press and social media on Juries in criminal trials. At both seminars the Trinity barristers were joined by Chartered Accountant, Peter Smith from Quantis Chartered Accountants who explored forensic accounting in criminal and confiscation matters. Alan Henderson, forensic scientist from Keith Borer Consultants, concluded the Newcastle session with a detailed analysis of the use of footmark evidence in criminal proceedings. Some of the positive feedback included:- “a great event”, “everything about the seminar was spot on”, “First class, as always”.
