Trinity Criminal Law Update Seminar, Newcastle, 28th January 2025

As part of their ongoing series of Criminal Law Updates, on the evening of Tuesday 28th January 2025 members of Trinity's Criminal team will be delivering a seminar entitled:

'Modern Slavery : Defence Perspectives and Practice'

Delivering the talks, Trinity barristers, Josh Normanton and Laura Jane Miller, will be joined by Human Trafficking experts Colin Carswell and Bernie Gravett, Directors of the Counter Trafficking Network.

The free to attend seminar will cover the following topics:

  • Section 45 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015
  • Recent Authorities - Case Law update
  • National Referral Mechanism in practice
  • Legal obligations of the police
  • Police station representation
  • CPS obligations
  • Role of the expert at Court (… the mores of human trafficking)

The evening will conclude with an opportunity to network with the speakers and colleagues over refreshments.

The event will take place at Trinity Chambers, The Custom House, Quayside, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 3DE. Registration is at 5.15pm, with the talks being delivered between 5.30pm and 7.00pm.
