Barristers from Trinity Chambers' Criminal & Regulatory teams recently delivered a series of in depth training sessions to Durham Police across two days.
The training was provided by Shada Mellor, Ellen Wright and Matthew Hopkins covering various protective Civil Orders and Notices, including:
- Sexual Risk Orders (SROs)
- Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVPOs) and Notices (DVPNs)
- Stalking Protection Orders (SPOs)
- Domestic Abuse Protection Orders (DAPOs) and Notices (DAPNs)
- Sexual Harm Prevention Orders (SHPOs)
- Slavery & Trafficking Prevention Orders (STPOs)
- Slavery & Trafficking Risk Orders (STROs)
- Anti-Social Behaviour Injunctions (ASBIs)
- Violent Offender Orders (VOOs)
The sessions explored the regulatory framework and up to date case law regarding these wide-ranging powers, including their practical application and best practice covering drafting, breaches, enforcement, evidential issues, related offences, standards of proof, interim measures, renewal, discharge, variation, and the challenges of dealing with vulnerable and young respondents.
