Head of Trinity's Criminal team, Caroline Goodwin Q.C. has reached the finals of the Lawyer of the Year Category of the Northern Law Awards 2019.
Regularly recognised in the leading Legal 500 Directory, Caroline Goodwin Q.C. is a highly regarded and experienced Criminal Silk instructed in all aspects of both defence and prosecution case work and advocacy. Caroline is instructed in serious and high-profile cases heard in the House of Lords, Court of Appeal and Crown Court. Her forensic case preparation, tenacious cross-examination, careful witness handling and robust Court room presence have gained her a reputation as a formidable jury advocate.
Called to the Bar in 1988 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 2017, Caroline has developed a practice specialising in homicide, terrorism, serious sexual offences, historical sexual offences, and non-accidental head injury resulting in infant death and more recently, international criminal prosecution.
Before becoming a Silk, Caroline was a Grade 4 CPS Prosecutor, Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) accredited. In 2010 Caroline was appointed as a Crown Court Recorder and regularly sits in Crown Courts across England.
In 2018 was elected as Vice-Chair of the Criminal Bar Association and has worked tirelessly to push new ideas and innovation for the wider benefit and sustainability of the profession.
The Northern Law Awards recognise the wide range of legal talent in the region across many different disciplines and career stages. Head of Trinity Chambers' Toby Hedworth Q.C. received the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2017.
