On Friday 20th November 2020 Trinity Family Law Barrister Claire Brissenden will be delivering an online training session to members of Resolution.

The session will focus on private law fact finding hearings and will be of interest to a wide range of family law practitioners. As well as providing practical tips for statements and schedules, the session will cover:

  • What is a Fact Finding hearing?
  • Why do we have Fact Finding hearings?
  • Why do we need a Scott Schedule and what is it?
  • Choosing allegations

The online training event will explore putting into practice the topics discussed in the first preparatory video below which participants will need to watch ahead of the session on 20th November. Participants will be asked to choose their best allegations from examples the trainers provide, together with supporting reasons.

Trinity's Family team has again featured in the recently published legal directories:
"The clerks are excellent. They deal with queries and bookings quickly and they always manage to match the correct barrister to meet our needs." "They often arrange cover at the 11th hour for hearings that materialise at short notice." "They are excellent. They bend over backwards and I always feel looked after." Chambers & Partners 2021.

"The family team takes instructions across the spectrum of family law, including public and private children disputes and financial remedy work. The set reports an uptick in matrimonial finance instructions over the past 12 months, with the team involved in high-profile and high-value arrangements including property and assets abroad, farms, and businesses, as well as complex pensions." Legal 500 2021.

The interactive event takes place between 10 am and 12 noon and is open to Resolution members only. Please click here for further information and to book. Please note that the content of the training is for information only and based on the circumstances at the time of delivery, rather than formal legal advice.

COVID-19

In response to the impact of COVID-19, barristers from Trinity's Family and Matrimonial Finance team and Clerks have worked with instructing solicitors to develop a range of remotely accessible Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) options and support, including remote Private FDRs and Family Law Arbitration hearings. Trinity has 3 IFLA Arbitrators and several members of the team sit as Deputy District Judges.

Trinity's Family and Matrimonial Finance barristers and clerking team recognise that some of these solutions may be new to many of our clients and as such we would be more than happy to spend some time discussing the various options available, the process, technical/IT requirements and likely fees.
