Trinity's Helen Hogben to Chair Manchester HR Conference

Trinity Employment and Discrimination barrister, Helen Hogben, has been invited to Chair an upcoming White Paper Conference to be held on Wednesday 25th March 2026 at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester.

The Conference, titled “Dismissal for HR: Shaping New Developments into Solution-Focused Answers for Employers” aims to bring together HR and employment professionals to provide ‘solution-focused, court-proven, answers to six of the thorniest dismissal questions facing employers’.

The in person session will attract five hours CPD for delegates.

Helen will open the event with the Chair’s introduction, following which she will be joined by industry experts to answer the following questions:

  1. Obstructive behaviour: How do you progress a performance management process where an employee actively resists by refusing to engage, alleging bullying, or going off sick partway through? Rebecca Peck, Bexley Beaumont.
  2. Word-against-word: How far do you delve into word-against-word situations involving inappropriate behaviour between employees at a work conference, Christmas party or work night out? Danielle Ingham, Mills & Reeve.
  3. Neurodivergence: When - and how - do you draw the line when undiagnosed neurodivergence is said to be a contributing factor, but reasonable adjustments are not making the required difference? Angela Brumpton, gunnercooke.
  4. Cultural misalignment: When is enough enough if an employee is difficult, negative, culturally misaligned or a mischief-maker - but not objectively underperforming? Mary Walker, Gordons.
  5. Mental health: How do you minimise risk when commencing a performance conversation for persistent and disruptive absences caused by an underlying mental health condition? Bryn Doyle, Lewis Silkin.
  6. Alternative employment: What amounts to 'suitable alternative employment' in a redundancy situation for employees on maternity leave? What if they could feasibly do it, but are not a good match and would need a lot of training? Naeema Choudry, Eversheds Sutherland.

The Conference, which includes lunch, will take place between 10:00am and 4:00pm at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester. For further details and to book, visit here.
