Trinity's Steven Reed Successfully Defends Former Police Officer at Misconduct Hearing

Trinity Professional Disciplinary and Misconduct barrister, Steven Reed, successfully defended former T/PS Jason Clay at a Police Misconduct Hearing conducted over 12 and 13 May 2025 at West Yorkshire Police HQ in Wakefield.

Former T/PS Clay faced a series of allegations, which included that he had abused his position of trust as a police officer to form a sexual relationship with a member of the public; and that the sexual relationship had resulted in the member of public becoming pregnant.

Following the two day Misconduct Hearing, the former officer was cleared of all allegations of sexual impropriety.

The Misconduct Panel found that the former officer’s actions in other allegations amounted to misconduct only. The Panel’s findings concluded the misconduct hearing without Mr Clay facing any sanction.

Steven was instructed by Kirsty Covey of Burton Copeland Solicitors.
