Head of Trinity Chambers' Criminal and Regulatory groups, Caroline Goodwin K.C. is part of the team prosecuting Special Constable Paul Hoile at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Hoile is charged with three counts of oral and anal rape, causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent and misconduct in public office.
It is alleged that whilst drunk, the off-duty Metropolitan Police Special Constable, raped a woman at the side of the road after showing his warrant card and querying her driver's licence. Hoile has pleaded not guilty to the charges, alleging that the sexual activity was consensual.
